Domestic Goddess

My dear friend is a designer extraordinaire. She styles photo shoots. Is a whiz on the sewing machine. Whips up amazing meals. All seemingly with no effort. Plus, she is strikingly beautiful. Now don’t be a hater. Would be so easy, but truly she is so generous and fabulous. When she lived in Baltimore we shared a big old Roland Park house that was divided into spectacularly proportioned apartments. Our two apartments were joined at the hip by a secret closet, which we would open the minute our husbands went to work (the closet also doubled as a convenient hiding place for our compulsive shopping purchases). On her return to South Africa, she quickly transformed her new home into something very special – combining her penchant for architectural salvaged, semi-industrial pieces, carefully curated objets and warming the mix with luxurious fabrics. Recently, her house in Johannesburg was featured in House & Leisure magazine. Here is a glimpse into Mia Widlake‘s world.
P.S. She also wields power-tools with conviction…all while wearing Tory Burch ballet flats.
